Shabbat and YomTov Services
Shabbat and YomTov Services
We run a variety of services to suit all ages and tastes…
Kabbalat Shabbat
An uplifting and melodious start to each Shabbat, with our Friday evening services, held approximately 15 minutes before the earliest candle lighting time.
Please see this special recording of Kabbalat Shabbat, recorded during the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown in June 2020.

Children’s Services
Toddler’s
The Toddlers service (under 5s) is held every Shabbat (and festivals) at 11am. Children (and parents) participate in a variety of songs and stories tailored for this age group, led by a team of parents. The service concludes with a small kiddush for the children.
5 to 11’s
The 5-11’s service is held every Shabbat (and festivals) at 11am. The service covers a number of prayers and songs from the Shabbat service. It occasionally involves a discussion around a “hot” topic from the weekly Sedra. It also starts to include certain laws and customs associated with Shabbat or the relevant festival.
Please also see here for details of other activities for children and young families in Pinner, including details of our New Generation programme.
Youth Service
We have a Youth service on Shabbat for year 7+ in the Bet Hamidrash. These vary in content and could include a full or part service, discussion or quiz. The emphasis is on participation and having fun. A delicious kiddush usually follows. Many leaders of the Youth service later graduate to davening or leyening in the main shul service.

Hashkama Minyan
Once a month, we have an ‘early’ shabbat morning minyan which starts (and finishes) earlier than the main service. This is a shorter, less formal service and allows more active participation in the service than the main shul service. It is always followed by a kiddush and allows participants to enjoy an extended Shabbat day with their friends and families.
Main Service
On a regular Shabbat morning the main shul service begins at 9.30am. The end time varies but is usually between 11.45am and 12.15pm. We have a number of competent men who lead the services on a rota basis – we would be delighted to hear from anyone who would like to join us.
There is also a rota for Anim Zemirot and Ashrei and any boy interested in singing either is encouraged to join the rota. Tuition is available for those boys who want to learn or you can simply follow the recordings here.
The community enjoys joining in the davening and the service is musical and uplifting. The service is always followed by a kiddush in the adjoining Henry Jackson Centre and a Dvar Torah usually follows the kiddush back in the main shul hall.

During the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, when it was not possible for many to be physically present for a service, Pinner Shul recorded an inspiring and evocative Kol Nidre service, in partnership with the Chief Rabbi’s Office and the United Synagogue.
